SUMMARY:Tinnitus Awareness Week 2020
DESCRIPTION:Tinnitus Week 2020 takes place from 3- 9 February in 2020 and as the theme for this has not yet been confirmed\, here’s a little about the 2019 campaign – Tinnitus and Isolation. \nWe often hear callers to the helpline\, or delegates at events speak about how alone they feel with the condition\, so we decided that during Tinnitus Week\, we’ll be trying as hard as possible to reach even more people in new ways\, in the hope of helping them feel less isolated. Here are some of the details of what’s going to be happening: \nHELPLINE – On Tuesday 5 February\, as a one off\, for the first time ever\, we’ll be keeping our helpline open overnight\, in order to be available to speak to people with tinnitus who are struggling and can’t sleep. So if you find you need to speak to someone that night\, please call and speak to one of our friendly team \nPODCAST – On Wednesday 6 February\, we are really excited that we’ll be sharing our first ever podcast\, talking about how relationships can be affected by tinnitus and how to combat any issues that might arise. \nSOCIAL TIPS – On Thursday 7 February we’ll be sharing ideas from people with tinnitus about how to ensure the condition doesn’t impact on social situations\, hoping to inspire those who may be struggling\, to keep getting out\, meeting friends and not letting tinnitus take over \nSUPPORT GROUPS – And on Friday 8 February\, we’ll be highlighting the amazing support available across the UK at over 100 tinnitus support groups.\nPlease help us reach more people with our digital assets \nWe’ve designed this image\, which we hope you will use on social media to show your support. The image can be downloaded by right clicking on the link or saving the image\, and is for use during Tinnitus Week (4-10 February). \nWe’d love you to share your tinnitus message on social\, along with this image and the hashtag #TinnitusWeek. The message could be about: \nHow you manage the condition\nThanking someone who has helped you\nReassuring others that they aren’t alone \nPlease remember to use the hashtag #TinnitusWeek so we can look out for it and share\, like or Retweet. \nYou can find us via BritishTinnitusAssociation on Facebook/Instagram and @BritishTinnitus on Twitter. If don’t follow us\, please do\, as we regularly post and it’s a great way to find out what’s going on in the tinnitus world. \nFacebook frame \nDuring Tinnitus Week\, we will have a Facebook frame which you can use to show your support for the week. We hope our supporters and followers will use this frame to help raise awareness. \nTwitter profile image \nDuring Tinnitus Week\, you can use the profile image we have produced\, to help us raise awareness of the week and show your support. SUMMARY:Children’s Mental Health Week 2020 - Find your Brave
DESCRIPTION:From 3-9 February 2020 schools\, youth groups\, organisations and individuals across the UK will take part in Children’s Mental Health Week. This year’s theme is Find your Brave.  \nBravery comes in all shapes and sizes and is different for everyone. Bravery can be about sharing worries and asking for help\, trying something new or pushing yourself outside your comfort zone. Finding your Brave can build your confidence\, self-esteem and make you feel good about yourself.  \nLife often throws challenges our way. Bravery isn’t about coping alone or holding things in. It’s about finding positive ways to deal with things that might be difficult\, overcoming physical and mental challenges and looking after yourself.  \nWe all have times when we need to Find our Brave. \nAround three children in every primary school class has a mental health problem\, and many more struggle with challenges from bullying to bereavement. Whether you’re someone who works with children\, a parent or carer\, passionate about spreading the word\, or keen to raise vital funds for Place2Be\, you can get involved and help us reach as many people as possible.  \nAbout Place2Be\n \nPlace2Be is a children’s mental health charity that provides counselling and mental health support and training in UK schools\, using tried and tested methods backed by research.   \nWe believe that children should not have to face mental health problems alone.    \nLast year\, Place2Be worked with 639 schools in England\, Scotland and Wales\, reaching 364\,080 children and young people.   \nIn the same year\, over 300 schools took part in our in-depth ‘Mental Health Champions’ programmes\, equipping school leaders\, teachers and staff with the skills and confidence to support pupils’ mental health.  \n1\,661 child counsellors took part in our training – from introductory sessions to our Masters programme\, building an ever-growing body of professionals who specialise in working with children and young people.

SUMMARY:National Apprenticeship Week 2020
DESCRIPTION:National Apprenticeship Week is an annual week-long celebration of apprenticeships across England and is a time to recognise and applaud apprenticeship success stories across the country. \nApprenticeship employers use the opportunity to promote the success of their apprentices and highlight the huge benefits to other employers\, of all sizes\, who are thinking of taking on an apprentice. \nApprentices across the country will also be celebrated throughout the week\, with engagement and events in schools and colleges. Many current and former apprentices will go back to school to tell their story\, attracting the next generation of apprentices\, so they too can fire up their future career. \nThroughout the 13 years\, National Apprenticeship Week has brought together apprenticeship supporters from across the country\, with MPs\, ambassadors\, apprentices\, training providers and top employers involved in recognising the value and importance of apprenticeships. \nFor NAW2020 we want even more people to get behind the week\, to build on last year’s success\, which included: \n\nOver 1250 events taking place across England;\n\nNAW2019\, National Apprenticeship Week and #BlazeATrail all trending UK wide on Twitter over the course of the Week; \n\nOver 30\,000 unique visits to the NAW resource pages on GOV.UK;\nAnd a hugely successful #askanapprentice day with employers\, including TUI\, Bentley Careers\, Siemens UK\, AXA Insurance and Cisco all getting involved.\n\nAnne Milton\, Minister for Apprenticeships and Skills said: \n“I am thrilled that National Apprenticeship Week 2020 will take place during early February 2020. It’s a chance to celebrate apprentices and the brilliant work being done by schools\, the FE sector and employers across the country to promote the huge benefits of apprenticeships. \n“Apprenticeships offer people of all ages and backgrounds a high-quality route to skilled employment with the option to train at every level in a range of exciting professions like aerospace engineering\, data science\, teaching\, law\, nursing\, and fashion. \n“This year we had over 1250 events and 1900 articles and features in publications from the Financial Times to Cosmopolitan. I would encourage employers\, training providers\, schools\, apprentices and our ambassador networks to start considering how they will get involved in National Apprenticeship Week 2020.  We want next year to be even bigger and better reaching even more people and employers so they understand the advantages apprenticeships bring”. \nFor more information about NHS apprenticeships in Northampton\, please visit our Northamptonshire NHS apprenticeships page.

SUMMARY:World Cancer Day 2020
DESCRIPTION:At the start of the millennium\, 4 February was declared World Cancer Day. It began with six cancer experts who convened in Paris in 1999. With the year 2000 imminent\, the group was determined that the global challenge of cancer would not be forgotten in the new century. \nTogether\, the six leaders – Drs David Kayat\, Peter Harper\, James F. Holland\, Gabriel N. Horobagyi\, Lawrence H. Einhorn and Sandra Swain – drafted a Charter that outlined a vision for addressing the impact of cancer on “human life\, human suffering and on the productivity of nations”. \nThe Charter highlights the need for access to quality care\, funding for cancer research\, greater understanding and above all respect and dignity for all individuals living with the disease. \nThe final article set out the idea for an international awareness day: \n“Recognising the declaration by all appropriate institutions that February 4 shall be marked as ‘World Cancer Day’ so that each year\, the Charter of Paris will be in the hearts and minds of people around the world.” \nThis document became known as the Charter of Paris Against Cancer. \nOn the 4 February 2000\, the Charter was signed by then President of France\, Jacques Chirac and then General Director of UNESCO\, Kōichirō Matsuura. \nRead the full text of the Paris Charter (PDF) \nA growing\, global movement\nThe Charter has been adopted by international cancer organisations around the world. Under the guardianship of the Union for International Cancer Control since 2006\, World Cancer Day has grown into a positive movement for everyone\, everywhere to unite under one voice\, building an alliance against “fear\, ignorance and complacency.” \n20th anniversary\nSince the creation of World Cancer Day\, we have witnessed incredible progress in many areas\, from increased political will\, technological advancements\, research breakthroughs\, and greater public understanding of the disease. However\, in 2019 the World Health Organization included Non-communicable Diseases (NCDs)\, including cancer\, as one of top ten threats to public health. There is still much more to be done. \n2020 marks the 20th anniversary of World Cancer Day. It will be a year to ignite action to accelerate the reduction of unnecessary cancer deaths and to achieve equal access to cancer care for all. \nJoin us on 4 February\, 2020. \nhttps://www.worldcancerday.org/20thanniversary
